Belcher chains originated in Britain in the 18th century, and were named for the bare knuckle boxer Jem Belcher who was Champion of All England from 1800 to 1805. This chain is similar in style to a trace chain but rather than having uniform links they are wider than they are thick. In its finest form it is known as baby belcher chain. This jewellery chain is also known as Rolo chain.
